Health Care Design Award
Health Care Design Award...
Whickham Villa won the 2007 Pinders/Caring Business award for ‘Best New Specialist Healthcare Development’. The Awards aim to promote and recognise the very best developments in all types of care-related property.
The Healthcare Design Awards acknowledge the contribution made by designers, architects and the owners of care homes, hospitals and other care schemes to the well-being and quality of life for those in their care.
Whilst architectural standards and innovation are key factors, the overriding test for the awards is degree to which a scheme has recognised the needs and desires of the residents and incorporated these into the final design.
The awards also recognise the important contribution made by the owners of all types of care facility - irrespective of size or category of care. The judges look to reward quality of care, achieved through quality of design, rather than design alone.
Some of the factors taken into account by the judges when assessing schemes are:
- Resident comfort/well-being
- Accessibility and mobility
- Staff needs
- Design features/innovation
- Meeting registration and market requirements
- Cost effectiveness
- Aesthetic features
